Furnitex

Hi everyone,

Furnitex and Designex are the two largest trade shows in Australia for the interior design industry.
This year, for the first time Furnitex, Decoration+Design and Lightsource were grouped under the same roof at the Melbourne Convention Centre during 4 days. Design:Made:Trade, was running in parallel in the Royal Exhibition Building, showcasing talented young Australian designers.
I was very happy, because this year's  trend was very French.
I really enjoyed to see so much linen used for furnishing and soft furnishing items, elegant and classic furniture, heavy wooden tables and chairs, provencial accessories, reproduction of old French prints nicely framed in simple black or in heavy rustic wooden frames, great big copper lamps and a lot of clocks of every sizes!
I loved all those soft earthy colours exuding calm, balance and stability.
If you are after a French provencial's style, give me a phone call or send me an email at brigitte@c-sideinteriordesign.com, I will be happy to source some great pieces for you and create the perfect French decor in your home.

I also particularly enjoyed the industrial style, very in vogue too this year.

Furnitex's blog  is great and informative. Their address will be in my blog list. http://decorationdesignblog.com/ I copied and pasted for you some products that I liked but you can find much more on their blog.

Entenglements create some very intricate and detail metal structures to suite any customised needs in your outdoor area.

Introducing another kind of screen, for window covering application, Twenty Six Letters created an innovative ecological product called DecoGlide™. This unique screen system lets you control the light, channelling it through decorative and intricately detailed laser-cut panels. The DecoGlide™ is available in three materials- Timber,  Polyester and Acrylic Plastic. Polyester material is made of 60% recycled plastic but feels like felt and have great insulation properties.

I wanted to mention the range of carton made furniture from http://www.kartongroup.com.au/ which are amazingly robust and lovely designed. The single/double/queen/ king bed piece (all in one) was very impressive and cost effective as well as the office furniture range. This product is very ecological and durable even if the company and the manufacturing is based in Germany because we don't have the right cardboard in Australia.

There is so much more I would like to share with you about this great trade show, lot of rugs, I love rugs and the scale of what was available was mesmerising, accessories, lamps, outdoor furniture, the list is very long and I can't develop it all today. It will come in later posts.
The last think I wanted to mention was the very inspiring Design:Made;Trade show, running in parallel in the beautiful Royal Exhibition Building in Melbourne, showcasing very talented young Australian designers and a whole range of incredible innovative materials for upholstery, window and wall covering called MoOD Innovation Platform. You can have a good insight of every exhibitors by going on the site: http://www.stateofdesign.com.au/Business-And-Trade/Design-Made-Trade

I hope you enjoyed, I will try to be back for another post very soon.
Keep well, Brigitte.
